Adventure Time Art
For this project I wanted to expand upon my environmental 2D art skills and so I took inspiration from one of my favourite cartoons, Adventure Time. I also wanted to improve when it comes to drawing natural sceneries, in this case a meadow with grass, flowers and lighting.
I plan on creating many more pieces to create a series of work, in which I take characters from the show and implement them into different sceneries, suiting each individual character. This will help to further advance my abilities in drawing a variety of environments, and how to accurately depict lighting in a drawing.
I feel as though improving these skills will aid me in future projects, such as improving my understanding of how different lighting affects an image, which could be a skill transferable to rendering.
Sticking with the theme of Adventure Time, I wanted to learn how to use Blender and so began by creating a 3D model of BMO, a character from the show. It was very enjoyable bringing a 2D character I love to life through 3D modelling, experimenting with different materials when texturing, such as the emission of light on BMO’s face screen, and trying out different lighting positions and colours.
In the future I plan on using Blender more often as I found it simple to navigate and learn, as well as this, I plan on 3D printing my model and learning more about 3D printers which will aid me in further expanding upon my 3D modelling skills I have obtained so far in Maya, branching out to multiple software's and mediums of art.
